Sir Digby Jones Appointed Honorary President.

Sir Digby Jones, the former Director General of the CBI, has been appointed Honorary President of Birmingham Forward. He will take the newly created role with immediate effect. Sir Digby was one of the founding members of the organisation in 1990 whilst a senior partner at Edge & Ellison.

Commenting on Sir Digby’s agreement to fulfill this position, Chairman of Birmingham Forward Diane Benussi said; “It is great news to have Sir Digby back in a formal role at Forward. Whilst at the CBI, he continued to be a strong advocate of Birmingham and its business community. His advice, contacts and presence will be invaluable in our campaigning activity and I look forward to welcoming him to some of our key events through the year.”

Forward’s High Court Campaign attracts the Opposition.

As part of the campaign led by Birmingham Forward to establish a permanent, resident High Court in the City, Shadow Attorney General Dominic Grieve will visit Birmingham to hear representations and speak about the Conservative view on the administration of justice outside London.

The meeting chaired by Richard Brennan and hosted by Deloitte will also hear from leading city barrister Ian Dove QC and public interest law specialist, Phil Shiner. Chairman’s Gala Dinner raises over £5,000 for Get A-Head Charity.

Our Annual Chairman’s Gala Dinner which was attended by over 200 members raised over £5,000 for the cancer charity Get A-Head. Proceeds were raised by a raffle and auction at the event held on November 23rd.

Get A-Head is the chosen charity of Birmingham Forward Chairman, Diane Benussi and is based at the City’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital where it raises funds to help support people suffering from cancers and other diseases affecting the head and neck.

The Birmingham Conference - find out more…

Members were out in force at the Birmingham Conference held at the ICC on November 28th. The event, organised by Birmingham City Council Leader Mike Whitby, aimed to bring together members of both the public and private sectors to discuss and debate the key issues facing the future of the City.

The conference also heard the initial findings of Professor Michael Parkinson who has been commissioned by Birmingham City Council to spearhead the City Centre Masterplan. The conference also invited delegates to comment on the draft of the Prospectus for Birmingham. View a copy of the draft here

Discounted rate offered to Forward members for the PSMG Annual Conference

The largest and most prestigious professional services marketing conference PSMG’s “Innovate to Differentiate” is offering those Birmingham Forward members who wish to attend the event a special discounted rate.

The normal registration cost for the one day conference being held at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre in London on March 1st is £775.00 (+vat) however Birmingham Forward members can book their place for a discounted rate of £599.00 (+vat). Corporate Arts Club

Corporate Arts Club in partnership with Birmingham Forward is hosting a series of events on 21st March to demonstrate how the arts can best achieve Corporate Social Responsibility, Marketing and Staff Development objectives. The presentations will culminate in an exciting pitch event themed on Dragons Den where a panel award cash and in-kind awards to the best arts sponsorship pitches.
