A Permanent High Court in Birmingham - Have Your Say!
In January 2006 Birmingham Forward, in conjunction with Birmingham Law Society, Deloitte, St.Philips Chambers and No.5 Chambers, jointly published a report recommending a permanent residency for the High Court in Birmingham. This has led to an open meeting to discuss the issue to be held on Tuesday, October 10th between 5-6pm at the Dickens Conference Room, Birmingham & Midland Institute, Margaret Street, Birmingham. The open meeting will be attended by the Lord Justice of Appeal and Vice-President of the Queen’s Bench Division, Lord Justice May.
The establishment of a permanent High Court in the city is a priority issue for Birmingham Forward and we believe it will provide significant benefits for the growth and improvement of both the business community and legal profession in Birmingham.
This is a unique opportunity to make our case to Lord Justice May and we need to ensure the largest, and most representative attendance as part of the Birmingham Forward delegation at the meeting. Please contact Halina Bromberg on 0121 632 2204 to confirm your attendance or by email to halina.bromberg@birminghamforward.co.uk
Sky Political Editor breaks from breaking news to address Birmingham Forward.
It had been one of the most dramatic weeks in the history of New Labour, the intrigue and gossip – would the Prime Minister stay or go? It was a perfect time then for Birmingham Forward members to get the inside track from one of Westminster’s most connected and respected journalists, Sky Political Editor Adam Boulton, who addressed Birmingham Forward and Future members at the Speaker lunch on 7th September.
As part of his wide ranging talk to members who attended the event at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Adam Boulton gave the latest news on the Prime Minster’s departure date revealing that the revolt had started right here in the Midlands at a Balti House in Wolverhampton. He also believed that the era of “spin” politics was coming to an end although he said that he wasn’t sure this message had got through to David Cameron or Gordon Brown!
