As the opening of Birmingham's Permanent Administrative Court gets closer - preparations continue
As Birmingham prepares for the opening of its permanent Administrative Court in the spring of this year, Birmingham Forward is staging the fourth and final seminar in its series to inform the business community on how the Court will work.
In the final seminar the focus will be planning and environmental law and how the Administration Court will impact on cases. The event will explore the practical workings of the Court, related procedures and when statutory challenges and judicial reviews should be undertaken.
The breakfast seminar will take place at the Hotel du Vin on Monday, January 26th between 8.00am and 9.15am.
The speakers are Martin Kingston QC and Jeremy Cahill QC who will then be joined for a panel discussion by Ian Dove QC, Anthony Crean QC and Andrew McGuire.
The series of seminars entitled "Birmingham Administrative Court - Make It Happen" has looked at a whole range of issues relating to the Court and has been well supported with over 200 members of the city's legal and business community attending the four events.
Commenting on the forthcoming opening of the Court, Richard Brennan, Chief Executive of Birmingham Forward said:
"The opening of the Administrative Court is highly significant for Birmingham. It is vital as a city and wider region that we ensure the Court is used and that cases are heard there. To have such an important element of the judicial system readily available reflects the importance and vibrancy of the city's legal offer. However there are still some challenges over the listing procedures for the new court. The task ahead is quite simple, we make it work or we lose it and that is why Birmingham Forward has staged, with its partners, this series of events to ensure that the business community in the city is fully informed about the Court before it opens."
