Peter Rees-Steer is the newly appointed Chief Executive of Birmingham Forward, taking up his post in July 2011.
Prior to his appointment he joined management and property consultancy Invigour Limited in December 2009, a post he will continue to undertake alongside his part time role with Birmingham Forward.
A chartered accountant and management consultant, he set up niche consultancy R-S Associates in 2002 offering strategy, planning, risk, organisational structure and governance advice to the public, private and third sectors. Working across a range of clients he also developed strong links with the arts and cultural sectors in the region. Having qualified with Coopers & Lybrand, he had previously returned to PricewaterhouseCoopers in their consulting division in 1997 following a period in the cable TV & telephony industry.
Peter continued his interest in the arts & cultural sector by taking up a number of voluntary positions; he continues to chair Audiences Central, the regional audience development agency for the arts, and sits on the Board of MADE, the regional architecture centre. A founding Board member of the Institute of Directors Young Directors’ Forum, he was the organisations second Chairman and continues to sit on the IoD’s national Membership Committee.
Previously, Peter was Treasurer of Birmingham Future and a Leadership Team member for many years. He is currently President of the Birmingham & West Midlands Society of Chartered Accountants and represents Business Voice West Midlands on the West Midlands Leadership Group for London 2012.
