Richard Brennan to lead Birmingham Forward
Professional and financial services lobby group Birmingham Forward has today announced the appointment of Richard Brennan as chief executive.
Mr Brennan, who is the managing director of business consultancy Strategic Alliance, takes up the reigns from Simon Murphy who announced his resignation to take up the new role of City Region project director in March.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Brennan said: "I am delighted to have been appointed and am looking forward to working with members on the challenge ahead.
"Simon Murphy has enjoyed a successful period at the helm, developing good relationships with key partners across the country and creating a great platform to push on from. He will certainly be a tough act to follow".
Diane Benussi, chairman of Birmingham Forward, added: "I'm delighted that Richard has accepted the position and am looking forward to working closely with him over the coming months.
"We received a number of top quality applications for the role. We selected Richard because he clearly has a passion for the role and the potential it offers. He has some excellent ideas for developing and increasing our membership and making sure Birmingham Forward continues to be a relevant and effective representative of its members.
"He also has a strong track record in senior positions within the professional services sector. All this combined to make him the right person for the job."
Mr Brennan will take up his new role with effect from 8 May. Simon Murphy will remain in post until this time, ensuring a smooth handover before taking up his new post.
