Although I live in the centre of the country one of my great passions is for offshore sailing and I have had the pleasure in the past of sponsoring, and being involved with both The Global Challenge and Ellen McArthur.

I am also very interested in Rugby, as a spectator these days, and try to get along to matches in the region whenever possible. Lastly I love theatre and am fortunate that one of my daughters works for the RSC which gives me a great reason to regularly attend a variety of performances.

There is a real sense of community within the city and a vibrant air of achievement that really gets into your blood. The manageable scale of the city allows you to live and work effectively in reasonably close proximity.

That we remember our heritage as a city that welcomes all-comers as long as they are prepared to work hard, pay their taxes and make a real contribution to Birmingham. We are facing an exciting ‘threshold of change’ and we need to actively embrace it for the good of all our inhabitants.
